My name is Nick Stearns and I am privileged to serve as the junior high assistant principal for the De Soto #73 School District. I am a proud alumni of De Soto High School (Class of 1999). After high school I attended Jefferson College and Southeast Missouri State, while attaining a Bachelor degree in Business Education. I earned a Masters in Educational Leadership and am currently finishing up my Specialist degree in School Administration from Missouri Baptist.
A little bit about myself, I spent the first sixteen years in education teaching high school and junior high business courses at De Soto. During that time I coached both high school and junior high basketball, high school baseball, served as department head, and helped establish the JAG program in the high school. I began my career in administration at Grandview High School, a neighboring school, where I served two years as the high school principal. While I enjoyed the position, I realized I wanted to be closer to my family. I returned to the De Soto School District in 2023 as the Dean of Students for both Athena and Vineland.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife (who is a high school social studies teacher in the district) and two daughters (Payton and Mac), coaching basketball, umpiring high school baseball, and all things sports related. I am beyond excited to join the junior high team. I can truly say that I “bleed green”. My family and I love this community and I want to help this district achieve great things.
